Guides to thoughtful gifting
How to plan a housewarming with a gift wishlist
A new home is a good reason to gather the people you care about. In this guide, open house means a housewarming or new-home celebration, not a real estate viewing to sell the property.
The quick answer
Create a Housewarming celebration and make a wishlist of things you would actually use at home. Include measurements or preferences, arrange the gifts and share one common link or QR code. Guests can reserve ideas; purchases and delivery are handled outside anything.gift, without a draw.
1. Start with the gathering and what you already own
Decide when you will welcome guests and what kind of gathering you want. Before making a wishlist, check what you already own and the space available. If you share your home, agree on preferences with the other people living there. A short, useful list can offer better guidance than many repeated ideas or things that are hard to fit.
2. Create a Housewarming celebration
Sign in, open Celebrations and select Housewarming. Add a title and the honorees, plus a date or details useful to your guests. Saving creates the event’s wishlist. The button at the end of this guide opens this type directly. If you cannot register or sign in, contact the support team.
3. Describe real needs and space limits
Think about how you will use the home: cooking, sharing meals, relaxing or welcoming visitors. You do not need an item in every category. If an idea depends on measurements, colors, materials or quantity, say so; “something for the kitchen” leaves many questions. Add a store link for a specific reference or write your own idea without a URL to leave room for choice.
4. Mix budgets and put the most useful ideas first
Offer options at different price levels without committing anyone to a budget. An approximate price is a reference, not an offer or an availability guarantee. Use the grip handle or arrows to put the most useful ideas first. Check that you have not accidentally added two versions of the same item, and avoid asking for more pieces than you can store.
5. Share the link or prepare a QR invitation
Open Share link to copy the URL, use WhatsApp or download the QR image with the event name. All housewarming guests can use the same wishlist link. A simple message might be: “We would love to welcome you to our new home! If a gift idea would help, here is our wishlist; there is no need to bring a present.” Send the exact address through a private channel when needed.
6. Coordinate reservations, purchases and delivery
Explain that reserving helps avoid duplicates but does not buy an item or confirm stock. Guests should check the store’s price and availability and decide how to deliver the gift. For furniture or bulky items, agree on measurements, access and the delivery date first. A guest who changes plans should cancel their own reservation so the idea becomes available again.
Common questions
Is an open house the same as a gift exchange?
No. On this platform it is a celebration with a shared gift wishlist, without assigning who gives to whom. Create an exchange if you want a draw.
Does a reservation guarantee there will be no duplicate gifts?
No. It helps guests who use the wishlist coordinate, but someone may buy without reserving or outside the list. Ask guests to check availability before purchasing.
Can I send the same QR code to everyone?
Yes. The QR code opens the common housewarming wishlist link. If you regenerate the link, share or print a new QR code; regenerating is not needed just to download the image again.
