Frequently asked questions

Answers to help you organize, share and give with confidence.

Getting started

What can I organize with anything.gift?

Create personal wishlists, celebrations with a shared list, and gift exchanges. Occasions include birthdays, weddings, baby showers, housewarmings, graduations, anniversaries and custom occasions. The occasion and the gift mode are different choices: check the mode when creating your event.

Do I need an account to participate?

You need an account to create events and personal wishlists. An individual invitation can allow guest participation and management of your exchange wishes; a shared link can allow gift reservations. Keep the link and the browser you used. A link does not provide access to the organizer’s whole account.

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes. Use Continue with Google on the sign-in or registration page. New users complete the required profile details. If your account has no separate password, some sensitive actions require a fresh Google identity check.

Why do you ask for birth date and gender?

Birth date allows us to check the age requirement for new accounts and calculate age for suggestions. Gender offers Prefer not to say; we do not infer it. Hobbies are optional. Review these details in My account; lists and events do not display your full birth date.

Does using the platform cost anything?

Creating lists and organizing events on anything.gift currently has no usage fee. Gifts are purchased and paid for separately at the external store, under its prices, shipping charges and terms. We may earn commissions from some affiliate links at no additional cost to you.

How do I change my language or currency?

Use the header language menu. Your choice is remembered in the browser and, when signed in, in your account. Choose currency in My account. Without a preference, Spanish or English follows the browser; other languages default to English. Changing currency does not convert existing amounts or switch the Amazon.com marketplace.

Events and gift modes

How do the gift modes differ?

Secret Santa privately assigns a recipient through a draw. A traditional exchange shares participants’ chosen lists without automatic assignments. White Elephant manages turns to open or steal gifts. A celebration brings wishes together in a shared list without a draw; a personal wishlist also works independently.

Who can see Secret Santa assignments?

Each participant can access their own assignment once the draw is ready. Do not share individual access links. The administration dashboard does not display the assignment map; organizing permissions do not grant general access to other people’s gifts or reservations.

How does a traditional exchange work?

The organizer sets the rules and the group agrees how gifts will be exchanged. Confirmed participants can choose one of their own lists to share with the group and withdraw it later. There is no draw or automatic recipient: follow your group’s rules.

How do White Elephant turns and steals work?

The organizer prepares gifts and starts the game. On their turn, a player opens a wrapped gift or steals an opened gift that is still eligible. The displaced player acts next. A gift cannot be stolen again within the same turn and locks when it reaches the configured steal limit. The organizer can also record moves to facilitate the game.

Can I change the mode or reuse a wishlist?

An exchange’s mode cannot be changed after creation; create another exchange for a different mode. When creating a celebration, you can copy wishes from one of your own lists. The copied wishes and reservations are independent of the original list. Reservations are not transferred.

Can I organize with someone else and collect RSVPs?

Organizing tools let you invite cohosts and manage attendance. The other person must have a confirmed account and accept the collaboration invitation. The organizing team sees permitted event information and attendance summaries, without access to private reservations or secret assignments. Send personal RSVP links only to the intended guest.

How do I add an event to my calendar?

Set an event date and use its calendar option to download an .ics file and import it into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Your personal calendar brings together events you can access. A downloaded file is a copy: it does not automatically sync later changes to the event date.

How do I configure reminders?

Email reminders are optional and configured in the event’s reminder settings. A before-event reminder requires a date and is processed from 9 a.m. in the event’s time zone on the selected day. Exchange reminders respect preferences, confirmation and current access; a celebration’s email reminder goes only to its organizer. Manage in-app reminders through Notifications. Archiving an event excludes it from your reminders.

Wishlists and wishes

Does an original idea need a shopping link?

No. A shopping link is optional for an original idea. Describe an experience, a handmade gift or another wish. If you add a link, it must be valid; external-store and Amazon ideas have their corresponding link validation.

How do I order or find gifts in a list?

In your own lists, drag cards by the grip handle to set their priority or use the arrow buttons. The first items are your favorites. Use the + card to add another wish. Search and filter gifts within a list; these filters do not reveal hidden reservations to its owner.

Can I attach photos to wishes?

Yes. Upload JPEG, PNG or WebP images up to 5 MB. Cards use optimized thumbnails, and you can open an image for a larger view. Replace it while editing or remove it with confirmation. Avoid images containing sensitive information or identifying children.

Links and invitations

How do I share a list or invitation and download its QR?

Select Share link, review the summary and continue to the link. The dialog includes a short link, copy and WhatsApp actions, and a downloadable QR featuring the brand and title. An existing valid link is reused where applicable; regenerating or revoking removes access through the previous link. Old QR images do not update: share the new one. Send individual invitations only to their intended recipient.

What if a link no longer works or I lose my participation?

A link may have expired, been used, regenerated or revoked, or the event may have been cancelled or deleted. Ask the organizer to check access. A confirmed guest with an email and no linked account can use Recover participation. For account access, use Forgot your password or Google, depending on how you signed in.

Reservations and gifts

Does reserving buy the gift? Can the owner see it?

A reservation sets aside a quantity to help avoid duplicate gifts; it does not buy or pay for the item. Reservations and their progress states remain hidden from the list owner. Complete the purchase yourself at the external store.

How do I change a quantity or release a reservation?

Reserve up to the quantity still available. To change an existing reservation’s quantity, release it and reserve again; someone else could take those units in the meantime. Manage reservations in My reservations. If you reserved without an account, keep the same browser and its session data to access them.

What do Purchased and Delivered mean?

They are private progress markers you update manually in My reservations. They do not confirm an Amazon purchase or delivery, create an order, or notify the gift recipient.

How does my reserved-gift budget work?

The My reservations summary uses available quantities and amounts and keeps currencies separate. It is a private estimate, not a charge or currency conversion. Gifts without a price cannot be counted as though their amount were known.

Amazon and shopping

How do I search Amazon and save an item?

Explore gifts contains Gift ideas and Amazon catalog. Use catalog filters and Add to my list to choose one of your own lists or celebrations in the dialog. You must have access to save there. You can also add a product link to a wish without using the integrated search.

Why do results differ from Amazon, or why do I see a limit?

The integrated catalog uses Amazon API results and limits; it does not necessarily show everything available on Amazon.com. If a pause or limit appears, keep your results and wait before retrying. You can continue using your lists or browse Amazon directly. Check final price, availability and terms on Amazon before purchasing.

What information is used for gift suggestions?

Suggestions may use age in years, selected gender, hobbies and preferences enabled for that search. Review the query before opening an external search. Queries do not include your name, email or full birth date. Hobbies are optional, and gender offers Prefer not to say. A suggestion does not guarantee a suitable gift.

Can I revisit recent searches or save favorites?

When signed in, My searches keeps your 10 recent searches and up to 20 favorites with their filters. Only you can see them. Clear recent searches while keeping favorites, or remove a favorite to make room.

Are links affiliate links, and who handles the purchase?

Some links include our affiliate identifier and may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Amazon or the external store handles payment, shipping and returns. anything.gift does not receive your payment details or confirm orders. Saving or reserving a gift does not complete a purchase.

My account and preferences

How do I change my avatar, and who can see it?

Open your avatar menu and choose My account. Upload JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 3 MB and 25 megapixels, or remove the photo with confirmation. A thumbnail appears beside your name only to people who can already see your event participation. There is no public profile directory; without a photo, your initial appears.

Who can see my sizes, colors and things I prefer to avoid?

Gift preferences start private. To show them to authorized list visitors, enable sharing both in your preferences and for that list. You can hide them again. Lists do not publish your full birth date or personal profile.

Is archiving the same as deleting or cancelling?

No. Archiving hides a list or event from your active views and reminders; restore it from Archived items. It does not change other people’s access. Deleting a list or celebration removes its content and access; deleting a celebration also removes its list, wishes and reservations. Cancelling an exchange changes its state and access according to its mode.

How do I export my data or delete my account?

My account lets you download an export of your own data or review account deletion after verifying your identity again. Exports exclude secrets, image files and other people’s private content. Deleting your account removes your lists, celebrations and organized exchanges for everyone; other organizers’ drawn exchanges retain an anonymous placeholder to preserve assignments. Review the full effects and Privacy before confirming.

Privacy and help

Can children create their own accounts?

New accounts require a minimum age of 18. An adult representative can manage a child’s participation using a minimal name or alias without storing the child’s own email. Avoid publishing their birth date, school, address or identifying photos. Contact support about authority or children’s data.

How do I send a privacy request if I cannot sign in?

The dedicated Privacy form requires sign-in and uses your account email without asking for another address. If you have no account or cannot access it, use the general Contact form so support can review your request. We verify identity and authority where relevant before disclosing or changing data. Do not include identity documents or passwords in the initial message.

How do I get help or report an invitation problem?

Use Contact or the invitation’s report-problem option. The inquiry is saved for support; complete the human verification shown. Reports do not automatically attach event details or access links. Avoid passwords, codes and private links. Email replies come from no-reply@anything.gift; use the form again to continue your inquiry.

Can I reject Google Analytics statistics?

Yes. Accept or reject statistics and change your decision through Analytics preferences in the footer of public pages. Rejecting statistics does not prevent using lists or events. Withdrawing consent stops new measurement and removes analytics cookies in that browser, but does not automatically delete reports already received by Google.
