Guides to thoughtful gifting
How to create a wishlist for a celebration
For a birthday, housewarming, wedding or baby shower, a shared wishlist helps guests choose thoughtfully and avoid duplicate gifts. These events do not need a draw.
The quick answer
Create a celebration, add gifts to its wishlist and arrange them by priority. Open Share link and send the common link or QR code to your guests. They can reserve an idea; reservations are hidden from the wishlist owner and do not mean a purchase has been made.
1. Choose your celebration
Sign in and open Celebrations. Create a birthday, housewarming, wedding or baby shower, add a title and the honorees, and complete the date or details you want to share. Saving creates that celebration's gift list. If you just want a list for yourself, create a personal wishlist from My wishlists without attaching it to an event.
2. Add clear ideas at different budgets
Use the Add wish card at the beginning of the list. An idea you write yourself does not need a URL; you can ask for a book, an experience or something handmade and explain it in the details. For a store link, paste its full HTTPS URL. Add your own photo if helpful, and specify a size, color or other useful preference without publishing sensitive details. If you enter an approximate price, check the currency and remember that it is not a store offer.
3. Arrange gifts by priority
Drag cards using the grip handle; the first ones are your favorites. You can also use the arrow buttons to reorder without dragging. Wait for the saved confirmation before leaving. Offering a range of ideas and budgets gives each guest room to choose without feeling obliged to buy a particular item.
4. Share a link or QR code
Open Share link from the celebration or its wishlist. A link is created if none exists; otherwise, the existing link is displayed. You can copy it, open WhatsApp with a prepared message, or download a QR image with the name and logo to share or print. Unlike personal exchange invitations, you share the same wishlist link with all your guests here.
5. Explain how reservations work
A guest opens the shared wishlist, chooses an idea and reserves it to help avoid duplicates. Other guests see its availability; reservations are hidden from the wishlist owner to keep the surprise. Reserving does not charge money, buy the product or confirm stock. The guest must purchase separately and arrange delivery. If they change their mind, they can cancel their own reservation through the access they used to make it.
6. Keep control of the list and link
Share only with your invited guests. You do not need to regenerate a link to copy it again. Regenerating stops the previous link from working, so send the new one or print a new QR code. You can also revoke shared access from the wishlist. Before the celebration, check that titles, links and preferences are still useful, without trying to view the owner's surprise reservations.
Common questions
Does a birthday or wedding need a draw?
No. Birthdays, housewarmings, weddings and baby showers use shared wishlists and reservations. Create an exchange if you want to assign who gives to whom.
Can the owner see who reserved each gift?
Reservations are hidden from the wishlist owner. Guests see availability to help them avoid duplicate gifts.
Does a reservation mean the gift has been purchased?
No. It coordinates the guests' plans. Buy the gift outside the platform and check the price, availability and delivery directly with the store.
